Do Not Rely on Your Own INSIGHT!

"Trust in and rely confidently on the Lord with all your heart and do not rely on your own insight or understanding." – Proverbs 3:5 AMP
This scripture above is one that I memorized a few years ago and often stand on when my faith is stretched. Every so often, especially as of recently, I can hear the Holy Spirit resounding these words in my ears — as though to remind me of truth and calm the troubled waters of my soul. Yesterday I went to this verse in the Bible app, and one word stuck out to me, "INSIGHT."
The Bible so clearly says do not rely on your own insight... and as I said it over and over in my mind, I can hear "in sight." Do not rely on your own in sight. Don't trust what's in your sight! If we only trust what's in sight, we'll remain discouraged because what's in sight often looks nothing like what God promised.
Don't believe me? Ask Abraham when all that was in sight was stars in the sky, yet no child to behold. Ask Joseph when all that was in sight was the pit his brothers threw him in, not the palace or power. Ask Esther when all that was in sight were death decrees, with no future for her people guaranteed! Ask Mary when her purity was the town's talk as a pregnant virgin, and all she had was what an Angel told her in secret.
Sometimes all we have is what God told us. If you run out of Bible characters to ask, ask me. Ask me, Morgan, when my mailbox is full of job denials, and all I have is what God told me concerning my bright future. Maybe my story isn't enough for you...ask yourself. What odds are stacked against you? What did God say about you?
God's word triumphs over our human understanding and circumstances. However, it becomes hard to hold on when all you can see is what's in sight.
What I propose is that you change what's in sight. Perhaps your situation is unfavorable now, but who said that's all there is to see? We have insight, but God has oversight, and because He oversees our life's affairs, I think He's worth trusting concerning them.
Don't let your situations make you bitter, discouraged, or frustrated. I believe that's the agenda of the enemy. He desires to skew our perspective and fuel our negative emotions so much that we miss out on the promise land. Don't believe me? For this one, ask Moses. It's like waiting in the hallway outside of a locked door — because the door is taking too long to open, you start to wreck the hallway. Once the door opens, security must escort you out instead of welcoming you inside.
Don't demolish the blessing disguised by your circumstances. There's a reason why you can't rely on your insight; if you did, you'd believe that all there is, is all there is to be. What you see isn't all God has left for you!
If I'm being honest, I still have questions for God. What's in my sight makes me question why He's taking so long to release what He said. I can't speed up this process, but I can allow myself to get frustrated while waiting. What if waiting on God to open our doors of blessings was never supposed to be a frustrating process in the first place?
Think about it — have you ever gone to a spa and you're waiting for your next service? Are you frustrated while you wait? NO! Instead, you're eating little crackers and cheese with sparkling water, dipping your feet in the pool, and taking cute selfies in your fluffy robe. I know this seems like an exaggeration because I get it; what in sight now looks and feels nothing like a relaxing spa day. But this is the truth — while waiting for your next service, you're expectant and at peace because you know you're in good hands, looking forward to enjoying the experience. Maybe God wants us to RELAX, knowing He's got us no matter what – while remaining peaceful and expectant.
Your insight has troubled your peace and killed your expectancy! All you can see isn't all there is to behold. God is STILL WORKING on your behalf. Prepare for the more significant that is coming. Practice entering your room of blessing while you wait in the hallway!
With all that being said...
